"My work flows from a deep well of intuition and experience. In shifting text from forward to backward I am questioning the meaning of the words and the context in which mindsets can be changed. My palette is intuitive and grows from my roots in abstract expressionism. The words are my starting place for these pieces. I paint them first and the field of color around them second. The words themselves define a space while the color around them defines a negative space that echoes community. The oil cloth in the work recalls my youth and acts as a resist to paint during the process."
